Fusion21 Skills Programme creates 11 new apprenticeships

October saw the graduation of the most recent apprentices to gain jobs out of the Fusion21 Skills Programme. Eleven new apprentices attended the graduation to celebrate going into their new jobs with contractors working on the Fusion21 procurement frameworks.

Rubax Ltd took on two new lift apprentices, Warmer Heating took on two heating engineers, Queensbridge Ltd took on two multi skilled apprentices, both Rothwell Plumbing and Liberty Gas Services Ltd took on a trainee plumber, PH Jones took on a trainee engineer and both AB Contractors and AW Byrne took on Painter and decorator trainees.

Steph Anderson who secured a job as a trainee painter & decorator with AW Byrne commented, “I have really enjoyed the experience and I’ve learnt so much in the past 2 weeks at Fusion21. At the moment it’s really hard for young people like me to find trainee placements in construction. I’m really looking forward to starting my new job and I can’t wait to begin work.”

Ray Crookall from AW Byrne added, “We are currently working on contracts on behalf of Liverpool Housing Trust, Venture and The Riverside Group. Throughout the duration of our partnership with Fusion21 we aim to continue to recruit young people in the areas we work in. It’s fantastic to be encouraging young women such as Steph into the construction industry”.

During the graduation ceremony all of the Fusion21 graduates had the opportunity to meet with their employers’ for the first time; the graduates were also given a parting gift of an electric drill by Fusion21.

This most recent Skills programme has taken the number of permanent jobs created by Fusion21 and our clients & partners to 747.
